School Day 2

Mrs. Patterson sent home a sweet picture of John Thomas today. I *think* she took this before class started because he's not at his right seat and he's coloring in his book from home which he can do while they wait for the bell to ring. So sweet. I'm liking his teacher more and more everyday.
He still didn't walk in alone this morning. I'm going to take him over the weekend to practice. Hopefully Monday will go well.
Excuse the pic quality, it's a scan of a pic printed on cardstock...

First Day of Kindergarten

Well today is the day! John Thomas started Kindergarten today! He was awake before me this morning which I know meant that he was excited!
This was last night, his last night of being a preschooler.
And because Bryson is so cute :)
Last night before he went to bed, we had to fill out his info sheet. Mrs. Patterson names one kid the "VIP" for the day for the first few weeks of school and the other kids learn all about the VIP. I asked John Thomas the questions and wrote down his answers.
Anyone care to guess what an Alarm Fixer is?
Yes he said his favorite food was salad. Kid loves salad.
So sweet.
Having his favorite breakfast, little pancakes
Ha, Bryson's impression of a deer in the headlights.

Fitting right in
Bryson wanted to stay too.

All in all the morning went well. He walked right in, put his stick in his lunch cup (I was happy he remembered to do that) and went straight to his cubby. He seemed very excited. I cried (a lot) and John Thomas got a little nervous when the bell rang and didn't want us to leave. He didn't cry or chase us out of the room so i'm calling the day a success! I'm sure he's having a blast.

Today Continued-Meet the Teacher

So I made it through meet the teacher with just a few tears shed... Just seeing his name everywhere made me get a huge lump in my throat. His teacher is Mrs. Patterson, and her assistant is Mrs. Stroud. They both seem like very caring and sweet teachers. John Thomas seemed very excited, but got very shy around Mrs. Patterson which you'll see below in the pictures.
John Thomas finding his info folder.
Opening a present from Mrs. Patterson to mommy. It was a pack of tissues. I will need them!
He was excited about the new toys
Mrs. Stroud showing him how to pick which lunch he wants or if he brought a lunch. This is cute. There are pictures of the lunch that they are having that day with cups under them. There is also a cup with a picture above it of a lunch box. He just finds his stick and chooses.

Very excited!

Today

Today is John Thomas' last day as a preschooler. Tomorrow is the first day of kindergarten. We are going today at 11, to meet his teacher. He told me this morning that he didn't want to go to school because he would have to do work and that his hand would hurt if he had to write. This coming from a kid that loves to write and color. Hopefully he'll be excited after meeting the teacher and seeing her room today.
On the way to daycare today... His final day as a preschooler

Kindergarten Countdown

John Thomas starts kindergarten on Wednesday... Is it bad that I teared up this morning when I drove by there to drop the boys off at daycare? Tomorrow John and I are taking him to meet his teacher and pick up his school supplies that we preordered. He is so excited and counting down the days... How is he 5?

Bryson thinks that he gets to go too... Wednesday should be interesting.

Kindergarten Orientation

Mommy cried, John Thomas cried… August will be interesting.

School Registration

Today is the day... We're registering John Thomas for kindergarten today. He'll go to a school about a mile away. We drove by the other day and showed him and he commented that it was "too big". I can't believe my baby is going to be starting kindergarten in Aug. His big 5th birthday is coming up in a little over a month. He's so excited to turn 5.
