Miscellaneous Beach Fun!

There are a lot of fun things to do at Pirateland, below are some of them...

Mark my words, Bryson will one day be skee-ball champion... Kid loves this game.

Check out his technique

Addition to the Family

Our home just grew by… 4 claws… Yes, I am the proud owner of two hermit crabs. Soccer and John have been adopted into our family. I am so lucky.

A Cloudy Saturday!

A little cloud cover didn’t ruin our day. We headed straight for the beach, and stayed out all day. We took one break for lunch and Bryson slept on the beach (as he did most everyday). Bryson must have psyched himself up for the ocean today. He was a little fish. Not a care in the world! He enjoys sitting there and just letting the waves splash all over him. John Thomas loves the wake board, he’s a pro at belly surfing!

Our friends Brad and Kim, and John and Melissa arrived today, and we met Brad and Kim out at Crocodile Rocks. If you ever have a chance to go to CR’s, you won’t be disappointed. We’re all within a few miles of each other and hopefully we’re going to get the kids together next week.

Happy 4th of July!!

Today is the annual Pirateland 4th of July parade. We hit the beach early, and then headed to watch the parade around noon. The boys caught way more candy than we know what to do with.

After the parade we headed in for lunch and a nap for the boys.

Afterwards we headed back out to the beach for the afternoon. Bryson is a little afraid of the waves, but John Thomas jumped right in. He’s a little too daring for my comfort, but is having so much fun.

This evening we are going to Broadway at the Beach to watch fireworks! Can’t wait!!

Below are some other highlights of our day!

Ready to go see fireworks!

We are at the beach!!! However we had to deal with another bout of bad luck… Wednesday night I was watering my plants outside, and the hose was stuck on the reel. I pulled it a couple of times and what’dya know, the pipe popped. Instead of water spraying outside, it was all hitting the inner wall into my kitchen. Within seconds there was water all over my kitchen floor. We got the main line turned off fairly quickly but I’m guessing there was still over 2 inches of water on the floor, under the stove, refrigerator and washer. Cleanup went well into the night. I had to take off work on Thurs to wait on the plumber, but by 2:00 we had water again. We left for our much need Myrtle Beach vacation around 5:00, and arrived a little before 10:00.

We Have the WORST Luck...

So on 6/22 we installed a Sunsetter over our back patio. A 20 ft x 10 ft so needless to say it takes a lot of screws to hold it up on the house. First bit of bad luck, the guy we bought it from failed to bring the crank that opens and closes it. We manually do it but once it's up, it's just too hard to do without the crank so we leave it up and I contact the seller. No return call, no return email, nada. So I contact Sunsetter and they gladly send us one for the bargain price of $31.00. Bad luck #2, on Wednesday 6/25 our garbage disposal stops working. We just replaced it in November ARGGG. Bad Luck #3, Thursday I load my dishwasher and go to turn in on and it doesn't work. Well then I figure out it's my on/off switch that's messed up not the disposal and dishwasher. So I go to the garage and see that the breaker is tripped. When I flip it, it sparks. Not good. So I hand wash the dishes and we go to Greenwood. Monday, John calls an electrician and he comes out yesterday. Apparently a screw went through the wire from the Sunsetter--thank God it didn't shock John off the ladder. I'm still skeptical since the switch worked through Wed. but whatever. We tell him to fix it and he does but for a nice hefty fee (bad luck #4). He gave us the wire and yes, right through the middle there is a hole and the surrounding area is burnt real nice. Thank God, I still have a house, right?
I would say that I helped stimulate the economy or actually this guys wallet, but since I haven't gotten my stimulus payment yet (bad luck #5) all I can say is that I'm out of a lot of money, but my dishwasher and disposal work GREAT! Have I said how much I am looking forward to our vacation.
