I Can Do It...

So yesterday when I picked John Thomas up from school he had a huge surprise for me... His shoes were untied and when I bent over to tie them he ran and said "I can do it". Sure enough, he tied his own shoes. It's a unorthodoxed method, but when he's done, it looks like it should. I am so proud on my big boy!

"I do it" is a frequent sentence out of Bryson's mouth.
The newest things that he can do (or thinks he can do) are:
Wash and bathe himself (results in a lot of water on the bathroom floor).
Buckle his car seat harness (always a power struggle).
Use the telephone (hopefully he hasn't called China or anything).
Climb on top of his playhouse (puts his foot in the window, pulls up and tries to climb)

A Night With Daddy...

Tonight I had a meeting for a new business venture so John was home with the boys. A recap of their night follows.

John Thomas got sad when I left, and John asked him why he was sad. He told him it was because he loves me most and wants me to stay home. John asked him why he loved me more and he said because "your legs are all prickly and mommy's are not"

Bryson and John Thomas played baseball and Bryson finally hit the ball. He wouldn't stop running the bases and at about the 5th time John Thomas told him "that's enough Bryson"

John Thomas is asleep in a pair of Bryson's pajamas... I don't even know how that happened.

Bryson is asleep up-side-down

I think the best thing that happened while I was gone was that John cleaned the kitchen--yippee!!!

"It's okay Bryson, she still loves you"

So after karate tonight, we drove thru Chick Fil A. John Thomas has a habit of telling people "hi" whenever he can and tonight was no different. As we pulled away from the window, he yelled "HI" to the worker and she responded "hey". Bryson then chimed in with "Bye" and she didn't hear him. "I said to Bryson, she couldn't hear you." He then proceded to pout big time. John Thomas then said "It's okay Bryson, she still loves you." What a sweet big brother.

Remembering 9-11

Wow, it's been 7 years since the attack on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon. Seven years ago, I was engaged to John, looking for a home and working in Greenwood. Today, I'm married and a mother to two beautiful boys. As I drove into work this morning many folks had displayed images of red, white and blue and lowered their flags to half staff. John Thomas questioned why so many flags were lining the main road and for once I was at a loss at how to explain it to him. For him and Bryson, the story of 9-11 will be taught to them in a history class. They won't feel the anguish, fear and hurt that we felt that day. Do you remember where you were that day 7 years ago? If you are around my age or older you probably do remember just as you remember where you were when the Challenger exploded, when the 1st Gulf War started, etc... I can remember when I was little my parents would tell me about where they were when JFK was assassinated. I didn't really understand why they could recall exact things about their day that day, but they did. Now I understand. I pray that my boys never have to live through an event like September 11th but I know better... I can only teach them to live life to the fullest because you never know what tomorrow will bring. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11,_2001_attacks

Movie Night

John is an electronic junkie... We have it all, including a movie projector. Tonight, the boys had been exceptionally good so John rewarded them by setting up the projector with one of their favorite movies. They get to lay in the guest bed (backwards), eat popcorn and enjoy the show.

Ready for the movie to start... Pay no attention to this crazy room. It used to be the nursery and we haven't painted it yet.

Sweet brothers!

Better than being in a theater.

I Spy...

Can you find the following in John Thomas' picture? Click on the picture to make it larger.
a boy, a castle, 3 flowers, grass, 2 birds, the sun, our house, the garage, two hearts, the name John, a flag, an hourglass, clouds, a car...
the car is very hard to see since he drew it with a pink marker (hint: it's below the grass).

Happy Labor Day

We packed up the car and headed home this morning. It was a rough start for the boys but we made it home in the early afternoon and enjoyed our day together!

Bryson was still a little upset about the fishing incident...

These last two crack me up.
